Nanny and Poppy come to town

Walt has been having a great week, first Amanda and baby Claire came to visit and now Nanny and Poppy came up for the day. Nanny made Walt laugh and laugh. She brought some fun new toys including Walt's first laptop. And in true Walt fashion he tried to eat it!

He is still loving solid foods, he has tried applesauce, peaches, peas, and sweet potatoes. He just wants more and more.

Here are some pictures from Nanny!

Baby Claire comes to Town!

So we are on Spring Break this week. (well bob only took off Friday) Our good friend Amanda had a baby on Valentines Day and since she is still on maternity leave she came to visit with her baby Claire. They arrived on Tuesday and left today. It was a really fun visit, but A LOT different than visits of old. We did take the kids to the mall to shop on Wednesday. That was fun. Walt and Claire did not spend much time caring about what the other was doing, although at one point Walt was crying and Amanda sent Claire down to kiss Walt. It did distract him enough to stop crying. So I tried to video tape it. He actually smiled a little more, but I stopped the tape.

Walt's other news is that is teeth are still really bothering him. He loves those frozen teethers.

Happy 1st Easter

Yesterday was Walt's first Easter, he was dressed to the nines and such a well mannered "man". We went to 9am Mass and Walt fell asleep on Bob's chest (which bob thinks that he has never done before with him). He slept through almost the entire 1 hour 15 min service. He was wearing some of his cutest clothes to date. We have been so blessed to get hand-me-downs from friends.
Grandma and Grandpa Ginther were here so he was thoroughly spoiled.

I forget if I mentioned this before but 2 bottom teeth have poked up from Walt's gums. When they in a little more I will show them off to the blog readers.

Fun Fun Fun

Hello Friends and Family,

So after my 6 month birthday celebration I got a horrible virus and was sick with a fever for about 4 days! My mom and Dad were a little worried so they took me back to the Dr. I was excited to see Dr Schmidt again so soon. He just said that we needed to wait it out. By Saturday my fever left and I was feeling better. My parents took me up to Chicago even though I was sick because they said that they could be miserable at home or miserable with friends up north. I did actually really well and it was not that bad.

Today, Drake University played in the NCAA tourney. So my Grandma Ginther (she has been in town taking care of my since Tuesday night) and Aunt Jess and mommy and I all went to J.Bucks (a fancier sports bar) to watch the game. It was close and then Drake got behind big and then Drake tied it up and it went into overtime. Unfortunately for my grandma they lost in the last second. She was sad, but I was quick to smile to cheer her up. Here are some pictures from the game.

Happy Half Birthday Walt!

Wow! Our little guy is 6 months old. I was telling my students that it was his 1/2 Birthday today and one student said, "Already! I feel like you just had him." It was cute that she said that. Some days it does feel that way. Although yesterday I came across a picture of me about a week before I had Walt and it does seem like a long time ago that I was pregnant.

Walt went to the Doctor today and the Drs quote was "He is doing AWESOME!". Well, duh, all of us and you blog readers knew that already! He is now 14lbs 7ozs, and he is 26 5/8 inches long. So basically long and skinny! He had 3 more shots and was such a brave man. He barely cried for a minute.

The Doctor said that we can start him on food. So tonight he had sweet potatoes. I made one yesterday, so today I just added a little bit of water and heated them up a little and guess what our little skinny guy loved them!

Here is a video of him and his eating!

Aunt Jess Rocks!

We spent the whole weekend with Aunt Jessica. It was fun. Friday night we went out to dinner with her and Troy. Today (Sunday) we went to the 2nd half of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship game. Drake University (which is in Des Moines) was in the finals, and won the game. It was Walt's first Basketball Game. He seemed to enjoy it. Tonight we went and watched some of Bob's hockey game.

It is great having Jessica around. Even though we out number walt 2-1, it is even better to out number the little guy 3-1. :)

Walt is ready even if the 'Lou is not.

So as I mentioned yesterday it was 75 degrees and sunny. Today the weather changed and it was a high of around 45 this morning. Now there is a thick layer of ice and the start of snow. They are talking that it may be another snow day tomorrow. The "south" is a little chilly this year.
Even though the weather turned, I did think that Walt should be ready if summer/spring ever comes to stay.

75 and Sunny!

These are the days that I love living down here in the "south". (my mom always says that we live in the south, so we joke about it!) Today was simply beautiful. It was 75 degrees and sunny with a nice wind. We met our friends Tom, Lisa, and baby Evan for lunch. We ate at an outdoor patio and then headed to a sculpture park to walk with the boys. We ended up walking about 1.5 miles and had a great time chatting about our new lives as parents.

These pictures are of Walt and Bob goofing off at the park.

JuMpErOo!

Our next door neighbors have a son Nolan who is 2, they have passed along to us some things that they don't use anymore like clothes, and they gave us this contraption called a Jumperoo. We put it in our basement and have not really thought about it.

I was talking to a teacher at school the other day and she said that her daughter loved the jumperoo when she was around 6 months. So I said, "Bob, we need to get that Jumper thing out of the basement, before Walt is too big for it". We brought it upstairs and it is pretty big. Walt really does seem to like it, but he can't really jump in it because he can really only get one little tip toe on the floor. SO it seems that Walt will have some time to "grow" into the Jumperoo.

Today it was 60 degrees in St Louis, tomorrow it is suppose to be closer to 70!

Spring days are ahead! Thank goodness.
