This weekend, we went up to Chicago for our friends Jamie and Liz's wedding. It was a gloomy day and the rain seemed to follow us all the way up. Walt was great in the car, we were a little worried, we won't lie. I was thinking that it might be an 8 hour trip vs. 5 hours. But Walt proved me wrong and it only took us 5 1/2 hours. We got in on Friday night, and stayed downtown. This is a picture of Walt and Sara on the balcony of the hotel overlooking downtown.

On Saturday, we went to lunch with Dave, and then went to the wedding. Here's a picture of Dave and Bob with Walt:

This is a picture of Walt dressed up with the family.

On Sunday, we had brunch with many of our Chicago friends. It was a good opportunity to catch up and to have everyone meet Walt. Sorry, but there aren't any pictures of Sunday's brunch.

And, here's a picture of Walt in his Halloween Costume (at least his second one). He's a cow - and at many points, he was a mad cow....

bath hair

So Walt had a bath today, which he still seems to enjoy. After the bath while I was drying him off, I pulled his hair up and then he went down for a nap. When he woke up his hair was still a little curly and sticking up all over the place. I love curly hair on kids, so I would love it if Walt took after me and had some curly hair. We will see.

We are off to Chicago for the weekend for Jamie and Liz's wedding. So this will be our first time traveling with Walt. Wish us luck and we will post pics and an update when we return.

Busy Weekend

Well, we had a pretty busy weekend this... um weekend. On Saturday, we started off going out to Todd and Paige's for a party. Then, Walt hung out with Nanny and Poppie, on Saturday night while Bob and Sara went to the Blues game. That was tons of fun. On Sunday, we went to breakfast and hung out at the park during the day while Bob played soccer. Walt even took in his first hockey game (in person). He went to Bob's hockey game and then had some dinner afterward.

Additionally, Walt had some very good nights sleeping. He had two consecutive nights of sleeping over 6 hours - which pleased Mommy and Daddy. Here is a picture of Walt in [part of] his Halloween costume.

plans, why make them?

Just wanted to share....

So Walt and I were about to leave for the Market (mommy wants to make some chili) when Walt let me know that his diaper needed to be changed, and boy did it.

Well I had a very cute outfit on him and while I was dealing with changing, Walt had other plans as he squirted all over the outfit. So here he is pretty proud of himself (in new make-shift outfit). Check out that great hat!

New Friend

Last night the 3 of us headed Southwest to meet our new friend Evan Thomas. Tom and Lisa are doing great and baby Evan is adorable. Walt and Evan were so cute together. They are approximately the same size and just too cute. We took their picture on top of a Blues jersey and Evan started crying and I kid you not Walt grabbed Evan's little (well bigger than Walt's) hand.

It was so fun to sit there with them chatting about babies and life. How different both of our families have changed in a year, and how wonderful they have become.

9lbs 5oz BABY!

Wow! We are sorry that we have not "blogged" in a few days. We have been pretty busy. Walt turned 1 month old, which of course meant a big party, sorry if you all did not receive an invite, we had to limit it to only Walt's closest friends (Mom and Dad of course!).

He went to the Dr on friday for his one month appointment and he now weighs 9lbs 5 oz and is 21 1/2 inches long. We, as well as the Doctor were very impressed with how well he is eating. The Doctor was alos really impressed with how strong Walt is, he can hold his head up really well for a 1 month old.

Our good friends Tom and Lisa had their baby on Thursday (exactly one month after Walt), they had a beautiful boy, Evan. Evan came about 10 days late, so to catch up on the time he missed, he was a big baby. 9lbs 11oz and 23" long! He is bigger than his good friend Walt already!

This weekend was Mary Pat and Chris's wedding. It was a beautiful affair. Bob and I were able to spend the day celebrating with them because Grandma and Grandpa came down from Iowa to hang out with Walt. They had a great time together, and didn't seem to miss Mom and Dad as much as Mom and Dad missed him.

4 weeks old!

Time for a party, Walt is 4 weeks old today. And, honestly he does seem older. He is definitly getting bigger. He recognizes our voices, he knows that I am his supplier of food. It seems pretty amazing to me that 4 weeks have gone by already. And that so many things have happened and we have been in our own little bubble for the past 4 weeks.

This past weekend we were so lucky to have a visit from our great friend Kathryn. She flew in from Chicago to help out with Walt and spend time with the Wichard Family. Now that we live down in St Louis we don't get as much time with our Chicago friends as we would like, and when we go up there to visit, we are trying to see so many people that it ends up being an hour here or an hour there. It was so wonderful to have her in town for the weekend, we just had fun and lots of laughs.

Opening Night

OK, so the sweater doesn't exactly fit, but the idea is there. Walt is pretty pumped for the start of this hockey season. The late west-coast game doesn't bode well for Walt to see the whole game, but you can rest assured that we're watching the opening faceoff.

Here are some other pictures as well. One is of Walt and Daddy hanging out before the hockey game.

The other is of the whole family. You can tell by this picture that Walt still has some reservations about posing for portraits, but just give him a weekend at Nanny's, and he'll be used to it....

We have had a 10!

Well after my last post, we had some very good news- Walt can have great nights of sleep! Friday night and Saturday nights were definitely 10s or close to it. He ate great and then went right back to sleep. I think that we both got about 8 hours of chopped up sleep, but 8 hours nonetheless.

It could probably be attributed to a visit from Nanny and Poppy Wichard. Last weekend it was the Ginther Grandparents and this week it was the Wichards turn to spoil him and love him! Bob and I both agree it is so fun to see our parents with Walt. It is very sweet. Baxter also came up with Diane and Wally, so it was his first chance to hang out with his cousin. He was great, whenever Walt would start to get a little fussy Bax would sing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" or "Old McDonald". Baxter didn't even know that those are Walt's favorite songs.

The Hamiltons came over on Saturday to visit, their daughter Kylie is almost 2, and she loved "baby walt". It is cute to see how kids react to tiny babies.

Sunday, Bob had a soccer game and a hockey game. I was not feeling great, so Bob got two great work outs and I laid on the couch and watched the Vikings and the Rams play horrible football.
